Position Description Summary

The Department of Management in NIU’s College of Business invites applications for an Assistant or advanced Assistant Professor in OB/HR. This is a full-time, tenure-track appointment to begin in August 2018.

The ideal candidate is an experienced teacher and scholar eager to teach OB/HR courses, perform high quality research, collaborate to support the mission of the department, college, and university, and engage with the business community.

NIU’s College of Business is ranked #79 in Business Week’s most recent ranking of Undergraduate Programs and is also included in Crain’s Chicago Business rankings of Chicago’s Best MBA Programs. These rankings reflect NIU’s College of Business faculty’s deep commitment to providing a high quality student experience and faculty excellence in research and innovation.

Northern Illinois University is a comprehensive university with about 18,000 students located in DeKalb, Illinois, which is 65 miles west of downtown Chicago. The College of Business also has graduate programs in Chicago, Hoffman Estates, and Naperville. The College of Business educates approximately 2,700 undergraduate and 800 graduate students.

The Management Department has 11 full-time faculty members who play a critical role in providing dynamic and experiential learning in the undergraduate, evening MBA, and Professional and Executive MBA programs. Faculty members support undergraduate programs in leadership and management, human resource management, entrepreneurship and social responsibility, and business administration, as well as a variety of graduate management courses in the M.B.A. and M.A.S. programs in the college. Faculty also collaborate with businesses through the department’s Center for Human Capital and Leadership. All programs are fully accredited by the AACSB.

Faculty have published in some of the most prominent journals in the field, including Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Journal of Management, Human Resource Management, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Vocational Behavior, and Organizational Research Methods.

Required Qualificaitons

The successful candidate must have, or expect to have, a doctorate in OB/HR or a related discipline by the time of appointment and demonstrate the potential to:
*publish in high impact journals;
*teach effectively at undergraduate and graduate levels;
*work collaboratively within and across units; and,
*interact with practitioners

Preferred Qualifications

*PhD or ABD in OB/HR at the time of application;
*successful teaching experience in management
*refereed publications
*conference presentations
*related business experience
